The Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification. We gave our participants the opportunity to mark their achievements by incorporating it into their work
Lodestar staff undertook training so that the company could represent Arts Award as a training centre. Fifteen young people elected to undertake the process at Bronze level and are currently completing their work on this valuable Level 1 national qualification.
The Bronze level requires applicants to:
• take part in an arts activity, anything from dance to creative writing to beat boxing
• attend an arts event
• find an arts hero or heroine, research their story, and discover how they got to where they are today
• share skills by helping to run a workshop or by giving a demonstration to others
They then build a portfolio of their ideas and activities in their own personal style and format. Here's one example in the form of a blog by one of our participants Alicia Dillon
